Did you know that 1 in 2 Queenslanders will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking part in Cancer Council’s Ponytail Project campaign to raise funds that will support Queenslanders impacted by cancer.

Throughout the year, I’ll be growing my hair as long as possible, alongside peers all across Queensland, before chopping off my ponytail and rocking a brand new hairdo. Every ponytail chopped will make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer #chopforchange.

All funds raised will go towards cancer research, prevention programs and support services. This means everything from transport to get cancer patients to and from their medical appointments, to assisting childcare facilities to keep kids safe from the sun.

I know that I can help create change.

Will you support me?

My Updates

my story

Sunday 24th May
I’m rocking the chop for cancer awareness. Over the past 12 years, three of my four grandparents were diagnosed with cancer. In 2019 my mother’s father was diagnosed with liver cancer. On the 10th of May 2022 after 3 long years of surgeries, chemo, and radiation he sadly passed, aged 67. Just 2 months after my Poppy’s death, my newly widowed Nanna was diagnosed with breast cancer. She too powered through a double mastectomy, and 12 months of chemo and radiation and was then deemed cancer free.
In August 2025 my dad’s dad was given the news that his prostate & bowel cancers had both returned. Pardy had bravely undergone surgeries and radiation for his prostate & bowel cancers in 2014, as well as having had a cancer removed from his eye in 2023. Sadly, due to Pardy’s age and health, he was both unable and unwilling to go through treatment one last time and sadly passed away on the 22nd of February 2026, aged 90.
I would like to donate my hair to a needing recipient, as I can’t begin to imagine the grief one goes through losing their hair along with all else they are going through. I remember my grandmother losing her hair, and her state of insecurity, although she did rock out those head warmers. I am doing the ponytail project in remembrance of my Poppy and Pardy, and in recognition for my Nanna’s strength.
