Braving the Shave
Unfortunately, like a lot of us, cancer has affected people that I love and care for deeply. My Mum is a champion 2x survivor, and there is a very special little girl in my life who is currently battling leukaemia
Her name is Grace, and she is by far the bravest 7 year old I know. With support from many organisations, both her and her family are staying very strong despite this huge upheaval in their lives. I've wanted to raise money to benefit cancer patients for a long time, so I am finally biting the bullet. I've chosen the Cancer Council in Australia because all funds raised will go towards essential cancer support services, prevention programs and lifesaving research. I am also raising money in NZ for Starship Children's Hospital who have been a huge part of Grace's journey so far
So, to get the funds flowing and show our support for the Cancer Council, I have decided to shave my head! I will be donating my hair (which is currently well beyond waist length) to the Ponytail Project, and shaving the rest off in a few weeks time, 11th November 2023
Bonus: I have also said that if I reach my fundraising goal of 2k in NZ and 1k in Aus, I will let Grace pick something to tattoo on my head after the shave. I may never get the chance to tattoo that spot again, so lets make sure we get there!!
