We are going to shave our heads and donate our hair to raise funds for the Cancer Council
Our son Sean died of early onset bowel cancer.
Did you know that 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime?
In 2008 Tony and I took part in Shave for a Cure. At that time cancer barely touched our lives. Sadly that changed. Walking alongside our son as he faced his cancer journey was one of the most painful experiences of our lives. Before he was diagnosed we had no idea that bowel cancer is the deadliest cancer for Australians aged 25-54. We need lower screening ages for colonoscopies, more education about never being too young for bowel cancer, and for young people to be aware that bowel cancer is increasing in their age group.
We want to raise funds to help raise awareness about all forms of cancer and the importance of detecting cancer early.
All funds raised will go towards cancer research, prevention programs and support services. This means everything from transport to get cancer patients to and from their medical appointments, counselling patients and family at each stage of the journey, to assisting childcare facilities to keep kids safe from the sun.
We know we can help create change.
Will you support us ?

Can we make a higher goal?
Monday 15th Jun
Dear people,
we have been humbled by the wonderful support you have shown us to reach our team goal so quickly… so we have added our individual goals together and raised the limit…. to see if we can’t make more for research and support for the scourge that is cancer…. here is a photo of the hair we are going to lose, Tone’s is even saying he will cut his beard off if we make the goal… any $$$ contribution, no matter how small all helps! Thank you !
PS did you know that Sustainable salons recycle human hair into all sorts of product, in addition to wigs they make hair booms for pollution clean up. This is an organic alternative that’s even more effective at soaking up oil and microplastics. A standard boom can soak up to 4L of oil and can even be drained and reused up to two more times. Talk about the power of hair!
