I’m rocking the chop for the Ponytail Project to support people affected by cancer and to honour loved ones in my life who have faced it.

Did you know that 1 in 2 Queenslanders will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking part in Cancer Council’s Ponytail Project campaign to raise funds that will support Queenslanders impacted by cancer.

Cancer has affected multiple generations of my family and is a cause that is deeply personal to me. My paternal grandfather survived cancer twice, including bowel cancer, while my maternal grandmother battled blood cancer. Sadly, my maternal great-grandmother passed away from stomach cancer, and my maternal grandfather passed away from bone cancer. Seeing the impact cancer has had on the people I love is one of the reasons I wanted to take part in this campaign.

Throughout the year, I’ll be growing my hair as long as possible, alongside peers all across Queensland, before chopping off my ponytail and rocking a brand new hairdo. Every ponytail chopped will make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer #chopforchange.

All funds raised will go towards cancer research, prevention programs and support services. This means everything from transport to get cancer patients to and from their medical appointments, to assisting childcare facilities to keep kids safe from the sun.
