I’m rocking the chop to put a stop to cancer!

My Reason Xx

This year I wanted to Rock the chop to raise $$$ and support patients undergoing treatment. I’m lucky to celebrate my mum being 14 years Breast Cancer Free. My grandparents have also had to undergo treatment for various cancers in recent years and the Cancer Council was a huge support to them.

Even though I was only 4 years old when my mum was going through her treatment, I still remember the day she came home with her wig and the smile she had because she finally felt a little bit like her usual self when she looked in the mirror.

This is the feeling I wish all cancer patients could feel, which is why my hair will be used to help make wigs for patients going through treatment.

Did you know that 1 in 2 Queenslanders will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking part in Cancer Council’s Ponytail Project campaign to raise funds that will support Queenslanders impacted by cancer.

Throughout the year, I’ll be growing my hair as long as possible, alongside peers all across Queensland, before chopping off my ponytail and rocking a brand new hairdo. Every ponytail chopped will make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer #chopforchange.

All funds raised will go towards cancer research, prevention programs and support services. This means everything from transport to get cancer patients to and from their medical appointments, to assisting childcare facilities to keep kids safe from the sun.
