Chopping off the Golden Locks ☀️

G'day! My name is Lou :)

A few years ago, doctors found a neuroendocrine tumor hanging out in my appendix—thankfully, nothing too scary. But it did get me thinking; most of us don’t really pay attention to things like this until it hits close to home.

That’s why I’ve started spreading awareness in my own way—including donating my hair to help support people going through cancer treatment. It’s a small gesture, but it’s my way of showing a little love to those in the fight.

Did you know that 1 in 2 Queenslanders will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking part in Cancer Council’s Ponytail Project campaign to raise funds that will support Queenslanders impacted by cancer.

Throughout the year, I’ll be growing my hair as long as possible, alongside peers all across Queensland, before chopping off my ponytail and rocking a brand new hairdo. Every ponytail chopped will make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer #chopforchange.

All funds raised will go towards cancer research, prevention programs and support services. This means everything from transport to get cancer patients to and from their medical appointments, to assisting childcare facilities to keep kids safe from the sun.
