For Aunty Ri x
Tuesday 9th Jun 3 days after her 50th birthday, my Aunty Maria was diagnosed with stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer (grade 3) or TNBC. A few decades ago, this diagnosis would have left my family hopeless, but with advancements in medicine and the support of communities affected by this horrible disease, we are hopeful and optimistic that Aunty Ri will make a full recovery. Now instead of sunning herself on the pebble beaches of Malta, she will be undergoing treatment, which will unfortunately cause her to loose her hair. Cutting of my ponytail is a small price to pay for not only raising money for cancer research and treatment, but to provide a wig to someone like my aunt going through treatment to maintain some normalcy in this incredibly difficult time.
